Koshimoto's Garden

Koshimoto's Garden investigates the profusion of natural, organic elements combined with modern architecture. Within this project, I have taken a traditional slant of nature and modernized it through use of digital print and architecture. Primary inspiration comes from travelling in South East Asia, particularly in Singapore with its combination of tropical jungle and state of the art architecture. After experiencing Singapore’s city in a jungle, the concept of tower blocks made out of concrete lost under the profusion of growth has been the key element when producing this collection. In addition, I also visited Kew Gardens in London to explore nature further; looking at all angles of leaves and foliage, trying to capture light and shadow. There has been a development of escapism and slight surrealism within this collection, which has allowed this project to develop and expand in new and exciting ways. Photography has been my preferred medium to use within my work as it has allowed me to capture what I am looking at, quickly and efficiently. My overall archive of photographs has been extremely useful, especially when producing some of my digital prints since there are so many layers.
