NATALIE GREEN
Exploring the historical use of flowers within design through modern textiles.
Exotic flowers have been introduced to the UK over thousands of years through exploration and discovery of new continents, the migration of people and through establishing trade routes. This project explores how and when certain flowers were first introduced to the UK, and in turn how this affected which specimens designers were including in their floral textile designs. The results of this research are shown through a modern day floral print collection grouping flowers by similar histories.
